No you will not be able to have it under your permit. It has to be registered to you. They run a check for every gun you list on your application.

^ I concur with this answer. Only pistols registered to you are allowed.

Yes, I believe that’s for almost all IAs in CA, OC being one of them. Have him PPT it to you if possible, then after 10 days, add it to your permit.

Even a gun registered to your wife wouldn’t be allowed on your CCW. Must be registered in your name. Agree just PPT it and you would be good.

In OC it must be registered in your name. No exceptions.

Also, once the permit information is sent in to the state, any firearm on the permit essentially becomes registered. If you have a handgun that was purchased before they were registered, it will become registered if you put it on your permit.

Also, look at PC 25400 You'd think one's CCW would exempt you from (c)(6) via PC 25655, but I'll speculate that code is the motivation for requiring registration to the carrier.

Not true. I have my wife's and my wife has mine on our permits. Depends on IA.

Some IA's allow spouse owned firearms to be listed on your CCW. OC may not but others do.

Had a firearm stolen that was on my CCW. The PD had to pull up the gun info from Hubby's name since he bought it years ago for me as a gift.

California has specific rules for the infrequent loan of a firearm.
You having your brothers hand gun on a CCW is probably not infrequent

Go to a dealer and have the gun legally transferred to you.

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Different counties must have different rules. In Placer County, gun can be registered to either you or your spouse.

The Mendocino County Sheriff not only allows husbands and wives to each have the others’ gun on their respective permits, he recommends it. I once put a gun on my permit, when I lived in Humboldt County, that was not registered to me. Putting the gun on my CCW had the effect of registering it to me.
CA DOJ has a form you can use (form has to be notarized) to find out what guns are registered to you.
