Not to thread hijack but I’m having a similar issue. I have a Glock 17 with tlr 1 light, RMR, and suppressor sights. I carry at 5 o clock and prefer 15 degree fbi cant. Should I get something custom made?

I mean zero disrespect by this, but... this is a gun designed to protect you from getting killed. I don't have any weapon lights on my pistols, but if I did I wouldn't be trusting my life to a knockoff for the sake of saving $120.

This isn't airsoft, and you're not building a range toy. There is a reason why everyone uses Streamlights and why holster companies make holsters for them. In the end, any money you spend on the light you'll probably pay that much extra for trying to get a custom holster made for it.
Buy made in USA whenever possible.

Dont buy a no name wml.
You will NEVER find a holster for chinese junk wml's.
        Buy either a tlr-1 (not a tlr-3) or a surefire.

The new Streamlight TLR 7 will be 500 lumens running off a single battery, and will be less than $150 street price. Spend a bit more and get a light that will last.

I don't carry a light on my weapon, but Hidden Hybrid Holsters will make you holster so you can carry your G17 with a light. I have one of their products for my Beretta with a laser and it fits like a glove, since they mold each one specifically according to your selected options. I highly recommend. Reasonably priced and durable. No, I don't work for them lol

Your question doesn't make sense, are you going to spend $200 and buy a quality light, or $80 and buy a no name light? Holsters made for the G17 that handle a light are generally made for law enforcement use, and that community largely uses two brands of light. Easy to find a holster.

If your going to carry a generic light, finding a quality holster you can bet your life on in the 1.5 seconds your going to have to get the gun into the fight, your on shaky ground. The only off the Shelf is a Sticky Holster but this can only be used with an untucked style of dress.

If your considering an off brand light your indicating your not carrying as a professional so the question is why the light with all the added risk of a reflex shooting that brings. You can't use the light to ID a perp as you would have drawn well not in immediate fear of your life.

Please clarify what light your expecting to mount on the gun, you common style of dress and perhaps we can help.

I don't use a light on any of my carry guns. Too much bulk.
I do carry a small hand held light. You considered trying that?

Try custom maker or prepare to mod an off the shelf kydex.
*I also made my own kydex holsters for a good fit.

Cannot a person reasonable perceive such an imminent threat but still choose to take the time to use a light to verify the threat? I would be more concerned with what I believe you call the risk of a reflex shooting.

                      I see what you're saying.
If "threat/s" is/are on the radar I can use my hand light to see what's what while my shooting hand is resting on the grip of the unpresented pistol.
Being sure of the target and what's beyond is always important while also being ready to go.
Time of day and changing locations require different tactics. I don't need my light on a sunny day outside, but there's no sun in an underground parking garage so...
Pointing a light mounted on a pistol in public is not good sense.
Weapon lights on home defense firearms are a great idea that I buy into.
*Options are important, I don't pretend to know them all.

Just so I have a baseline do you have a California CCW yet? If your talking in your house you could have the gun and light out, still inadvisable, the term is really startle, and searching with a weapons mounted light violates a key safety rule of never pointing a weapon at something your not ready to destroy.

By the way getting a IWB for a glock 17 with a light is not that big a deal. I carry in stock ready to go, or try on if your in OC Glock 17 holsters made for Surefire lights.

Don't really understand the need for a light, but that's just me.
