CCW Holder Public Database?

During my interview for Orange County CCW, my detective disclosed that my information will be made part of a publicly accessible database of ccw holders in the state of California. He said phone numbers and addresses would be redacted. I have tried to search for this list to see if my name is on it but am unable to find such a list. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I'm not sure if this will help, but you could start with making a public records request to the CA DOJ. More info here (scroll down to the "ACCESSING DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE (DOJ) RECORDS" section)

I'm sure that there is no publicly accessible on-line record. It would have to be requested, and they are not going to just give it to anyone who asks either.

When I wash in about two weeks ago for my interview the sergeant who interviewed me said that there was a FOIA request (I don't recall who it was. It I think it was the OC Register) for the information and that they might publish the names.

The media for years has tried to get this and publish the addresses online.

They want to world to burn and for gangsters to break into homes to steal guns

A publicly accessible database with names/phones and address should also be available for all politicians, reporters and anyone who requests (FOIA) the data of CCW holders.

We all signed the front page of the California DOJ Bureau of Firearms application that says, "I understand that I am obligated to be complete and truthful in providing information on this application. I understand that all of the information disclosed by me in this his application may be subject to public disclosure. "

My interviewer pointed it out to me so I knew what I was signing. Good job OCSD!

You'll have to take over my spot at the top of the list of gun owners who couldn't care less. Hiding in the closet has never been my thing.

But it should be your choice, not someone else's. I think those that want to remain anonymous for various reasons I can think of should be able to.

The only state-wide list of CCW holders is maintained by the AG under PEN 11106(a)(1): https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/f...ctionNum=11106.

In order to assist in the investigation of crime, the prosecution of civil actions by city attorneys pursuant to paragraph (3) of subdivision (b), the arrest and prosecution of criminals, and the recovery of lost, stolen, or found property, the Attorney General shall keep and properly file a complete record of all of the following:
(A) All copies of fingerprints.
(B) Copies of licenses to carry firearms issued pursuant to Section 26150, 26155, 26170, or 26215.

but, dissemination is limited to law enforcement:

(2) The Attorney General shall, upon proper application therefor, furnish the information to the officers referred to in Section 11105.
