    Off-Campus School Event

Hi all, I tried finding something related to this, but apparently my search methods are no good.

I am in Ventura County. I am attending my daughter's athletics banquet tonight, but the event is being held off-campus at a banquet hall-type place (i.e. the public can rent out the place if desired). I have seen no signs prohibiting CCW, so I believe I can carry during the event. Does anyone disagree, or, alternately, have a link to this discussion in the archives? Thanks a bunch.

According to 626.9 e (4) (also by subsections h and i if it's a college or university event), it's not illegal.

But don't take my word for it. Read 626.9. I may have missed or misinterpreted something.

Thank you for referencing the code, that is always helpful info.

I'm not seeing what you do in the PC mentioned.
I'm reading off campus is a different story unless posted.
OP...I'll assume it's a College or University event. Grade school is even better for you.
I'd carry there but that's me. The "event" you discribed doesn't qualify as it is not a place of student housing, teaching, research or administration. Clearly it is not.
Pay perticular attention to your concealment...more so than usual. It's really kind of a grey area.

Thanks for chiming in. It is actually a high school event, which I think means the same as grade school. Tonight will be a 2XL TALL button down shirt night covering my IWB

I said it's not illegal. As in, it's legal. Read my first post again.

If the event is not on school grounds then the prohibition of firearms on campus doesn't apply. I believe that was the stated intent by Old Bald Guy.

                    Absolutely right...sorry about that.
