I live in Riverside County and have a Riverside County CCW. My employer is sending me up north for a four month assignment. I would have to relocate there for the four months. After the four months I would return to my residence in Riverside County. Would this be considered a change in address that I would have to report to IA? Would this possibly cause me to lose my CCW?

IMO, no, that's not 'moving out of the county'.ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page
Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good! -
Heck no dont change your DL.Comment

Temporary Assignments expected to last 6 months or less are just that.
TEMPORARY.

Nope you are on travel status, just like a long haul trucker. Be sure to take your ccw with you

You will probably get a better answer if you call or e-mail them.
I'm with Librarian that unless you are planning a permanent move, you are not relocating/moving. You will be maintaining your current resident status where you are now, and returning there at the end of the temp assignment.Comment

Actually yes, Temporary Assignments are part of the title 26 federal tax code which California is in conformity with.
While not a part of the CCW laws for California it certainly gives you a great authority in support of that argument.
CORRECTION, Tax Code actually say Temporary is "Expected to last 1 year or less" vs permanent "Expected to last a year or more" and Undefined which is just that.Last edited by 71MUSTY; 05-05-2017, 9:33 AM.Only slaves don't need guns

Change of Address and Change of Residency are not the same.
Sigitas Raulinaitis v. Ventura County Sheriffs Department (http://michellawyers.com/wp-content/...ssing-Case.pdf)
The judge concluded that “residency” in the context of the CCW statute means “domicile.” (Note:This was a denial of Summary Judgement, and may not hold as precedent in California courts. Consider it a data point.)Domicile is defined for California tax purposes (and in Raulinaitis) as,The residence requirement does not preclude any California resident from obtaining a CCWP, because under California law, every Californian has a domicile, regardless of how many homes he owns and in how many counties those homes are located. The law simply requires that he submit his CCWP application to the county in which that domicile is located.IANAL....the place where you voluntarily establish yourself and family, not merely for a special or limited purpose, but with a present intention of making it your true, fixed, permanent home and principal establishment. It is the place where, whenever you are absent, you intend to return (https://www.ftb.ca.gov/individuals/f...sidency_status).
Apply the above as you will.....
However, since this is a "may issue" state, it may be prudent to inquire with your IA about a possible temporary job reassignment out of county for a limited duration of perhaps a month, or so.
If you should need to use your CCW in the other county, it would smooth the process of explaining the use to your IA.
