GrayOps / GoFast1 / Gordon Gray CCW Training NOT Accepted in Sacramento County

My wife and her friend went in for their long awaited final CCW for Sacramento County today only to be rejected as their instructor GrayOps / GoFast1 / Gordon Gray is 'not approved by the DOJ' as per the Sacramento County CCW office.

The Sacramento County CCW sheriff says that they have notified him many times of this. Oddly, if he is not approved for Sacramento County, then why does his website say as of today he is and why did he complete the Sacramento County Sheriff ? See attached.

Needless to say these two are screwed. Apparently, even if GrayOps gets approved now, those who took the class prior will not be accepted as the instructors were not certified at the time of the class. Time taken off work to visit the sheriff and a weekend of training thrown out the window. What the hell? You may want to check in with Gordon if you took his CCW class. As of now he is still not recognized by Sacramento County.

Anyone else run into the same? I hope we are able to obtain a refund for time and money spent without much hassle.

    This sucks.

Did they pay by credit card? There may be recourse through credit card company as he/she obviously misrepresented their services and may have scammed someone out of their money. That is a shame.
I would post on their Yelp page about it, Google reviews, their Facebook page, Twitter, and anywhere else they and anyone looking to use their services may see it.

I cannot recall how payment occurred. It was in the fall so the recourse for a credit card may be limited. We have requested a refund. We will see how that goes.

Seems like Sac County SD needs to investigate the fraud and put pressure on them. They need to do their job as well. I hope you get your money back.

I had to send an email asking if his course is good for Sac. I'll follow up if I get a reply. If he is still taking students under the pretense that his class is approved after having a refound request he definitely needs to be looked into.

Not in Sacramento County but in Fresno the PD and Sheriff both have authorized trainers listed. Too late for the girls now but does Sacramento County have a similar list?

Heard back from an inquiry into his class being accepted for a permit and as of 3/26 he replied he is awaiting renewal of eis qualification and atleast told me his class is not accepted as of now.

Thanks for all the support calguns! GrayOps is offering to pay to attend another class and cover the ammo. It sucks to have to use another entire weekend for this. We will see how this fares.

In this context, what does 'approved by the DOJ' mean?

I know of no state-level certification of firearms instruction.

We are trying to keep this positive outlook as well. Luckily she has until July to complete the training. It seems like you get six months from the date of LiveScan results to get that Final done.

Happy to say this is all getting cleared up. GG has his required certification and the ladies we earn their certs.

Only complaint now would be better communication up front.

OK - but from whom did GG get his certification?

Isn't it stated on the application "certified NRA instructor".
