    Residency / Proof question.

    Greetings Calgunners.

I'm 23 and am looking at acquiring a CCW.

I've kept my DL / Permanent address at my parent's residence in OC, since I've gone to school in Santa Barbara and am now finishing up school in Los Angeles area. I'm on a lease in LA (city) but all my firearm transactions have been addressed to the address in OC (provided my secondary proof of residency was a basic lease agreement).

Being that my technical residence isn't in LA and it's nearly impossible in LA to obtain a CCW. Despite a girl being shot and killed on my block a two weeks ago, where I walk daily.

What would be an advised course of action to obtain an Orange County CCW?

From my research I need several pieces of proof of residency - any advice on what to use?

    Best,

    D

Are you seriously asking how to cheat on your ccw application? In OC a deputy will make a surprise visit to your place of residence. If you don't live there, you don't live there.

Best way to get an OC CCW? Move there.

I'd think long and hard about your idea here. If I'm not mistaken when you sign the application you are doing so stating everything is true and correct under penalty of perjury.

If you do not physically live somewhere but claim it as your permanent residence really doesn't matter, what matter's is where you physically live.

If you dork it up, kiss your chances of ever getting one in this state goodbye. And they will find out, and they will not be very happy that you put them through the trouble.

I'd wait until I move back to OC if it were me.

I'm looking for solid advice because my DL is for OC and has been since I got it. Since then I've lived in multiple residences in SB and LA for school, some have been in my name, some my parents, and some not. It's been much easier at this point in my life retaining that as a permanent address.

This is the first instance I've experienced any issue with it and rightfully so.

I do appreciate the strait forward responses, it's quite clear now.

If doesn't matter what the paper trail says, it's where you actually reside that counts.

Pretty clear earlier, no need to be redundant now.

Your responsibility is to keep your address updated on your DL! Every time you move. So, you should have had from OC > SB > and now LA. IMO - I would stay at your home in the OC at least 4-5 night a week

It's never been an issue and has been retained to make things easier (banking, insurance, mailing, etc...). I've always looked at it as more of a dual residency as I would and do frequent home on the weekends and time off.
