    OCSD Current CCW Renewal Process -

    LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTS ALREADY ON FILE

    8-30-16 - renewal application mailed/received via Cert. Mail 320 N. Flower -
    CCW 4FL Santa Ana, CA 92703
    10-24-16 -OCSD CCW permit expired. Original issued September 13, 2005
    10-26-16 -Deputy called my office requesting copy of Bus. Lic. + 2 utility bills
    10-27-16 -CCWpermits@ocsd.org - conditionally approved further processing
    training certificate requested via fax - faxed 714-834-5605
    11-01-16 -JKorean@ocsd.org - finalization appointment 11-10-16 at 1:00 PM
    ONLY check or money order payable OCSD $77.56 - BRING ORIGINAL TRAINING CERTIFICATE
    (note - weapon inspections no longer required - related to training certificate)
    11-10-16 -Will show up on time wearing appropriate casual attire ie Dockers
    - shirt - polished shoes etc Please note: firearms, bags, backpacks, purses and guests are not permitted
    11-10-16 -1 pm appointment - OCSD - Brought renewal $77.56 cashiers check (req-Cashier or Money order) plus required original training certificate
    it will be compared to OCSD copy on hand. Permit issued RENEWAL - Occupation: N/A

    Reception Desk info - INITIAL - CCW applications timeline - Live Scan taking up to 5-6 months - OCSD additional 4+ months for CCW permits to be issued
    RENEWALS - send/email renewal applications at least 4-5 months prior to expiration - if CCW permit expired - permit is relinquished!!

    From my observation, OCSD is very professional about the way they handle the whole process. I admire the fact you plan to dress appropriately for an appointment; too few people do these days. I don't believe what you wear to the appointment will affect the issuance of your license. Unless of course you go in with a t-shirt that proclaims "Legalize it" and reeking of prohibited stuff.

    That said, I know a guy in Idaho who thought it would be funny to have the picture on his ID CCW give himself the appearance of the Unabomber. Can't believe they issued that one; he even scared me.
