I did a web search and found one CCW trainer (559ccw) that offered an online course that is purportedly acceptable in two counties, Fresno and Kings. Is anybody aware if there are any other IAs that have approved an online 16hr course that meets SB2 requirements? This is potentially groundbreaking because the proposed court order in the CRPA case against the LASD et al, includes a requirement that nonresidents be allowed to satisfy the California training requirement by completing an online course.

Sacramento County does NOT recognize online training. Must be done in the presence of the instructor.

Thanks, for your response. The purpose of my question was to create a list for non-residents to use, since the federal court's proposed order specifically requires all IAs to accept an online course, either their own or one approved by another IA if they do not have their own. This means that I could take a Madera County approved online course and Jim Cooper would have to accept it, whether he liked it or not. He would also have to accept me doing the live fire requirement in northern Idaho or northeast Washington (Spokane area). I am already challenging the Sac Sheriff's CCW practices in state court, so I will have to see how that goes.Sacramento County does NOT recognize online training. We run a hybrid CCW class in several counties including San Mateo, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Alameda, and San Joaquin counties. Our lecture is conducted self paced online with the state required written test at the end, and our final four hour block is conducted on the range. We are looking to start working across California and into neighboring states for non resident permits. Feel free to message us if you have any questions!

The court's order states that a non-resident cannot be forced to travel more than 75 miles from their residence to complete the live fire. How the trainers will work that out is not clear. I will probably apply in Butte County, since it appears that I will be there just after April 22, 2025, when the court's order goes into effect. The Butte County Sheriff's department told me that they approved an online course provided by a trainer in Redding, so I will likely take that course.Comment
