Justice Thomas was admitted to the hospital on Friday with flu-like symptoms….

A discussion is going in OT and in National RKBA (NYSRPA thread) forums.

Beating incumbent Carlos Bolanos is quite unlikely; he runs a solid program, been around for ages, active in the county, deputies like him, straight shooter. He's not pro 2A, but his constituency is perfectly ok with that. I just don't see anyone that will have a chance, not even close.

Since you SM Co people do not appear to have anyone to support, I’d like to suggest supporting donate to: (1) Ben Therriault in CoCoCo and/or (2) Kevin Jensen in Santa Clara Co.

On the plus side Ben has said and has on his website that he’ll accept Self Defense for GC. www.Ben4sheriff/ccw On the minus side he’s taking on an incumbent.

On the plus side Jensen is running for a vacant office (Smith is retiring), but he hasn’t said much about CCWs yet. (He might say more when he addresses the GS2AC later this month.)

Winning either or especially both will have a HUGE impact on the SFBA and SM Co, with TONS of commuters and visitors from those two counties CCWing while in SM Co. We will have 2 green counties in the lower 6 SFBA counties. Your sheriff will be on the defensive and have to justify (give a rational basis?), for their restrictive GC policy.

In other news, another San Mateo County business owner used a their concealed carry weapon to defend themselves in an armed robbery: https://www.ktvu.com/news/jewelry-st...dOD-HorK5wX1pI

The owner of Plaza Jewelers in North Fair Oaks (unincorporated San Mateo County) fought off an attempted armed robbery with his concealed carry weapon yesterday afternoon. The owner fired at least one shot and drove the robbers away. No one was hit. According to the video in the article, the owner had a CCW permit for "about ten years". Not sure if the CCW permit was issued in San Mateo County.

I'm sorry to hear that, but I am not surprised.

If you plan on filing an appeal, I'm not sure if recent events will help. This story just came out today: https://www.ktvu.com/news/legally-ar...t-in-san-bruno

Apparently, the owner of Maaz Jewelers in San Bruno fought off a smash-and-grab/armed robbery with his concealed carry weapon last Friday. According to the articles I've read, he had a valid CCW permit. This occurred within San Mateo County, so it should be more persuasive. I am surprised the store owner possessed a CCW permit though. I'm thinking he probably resides in another county that more readily issues CCW permits, and he just happens to work in San Mateo County.

Bottom line: the CA CCW GC map showing SM Co Light Red has been verified as correct.

According to their Policy 207 (p. 30), the Broadmoor CoP does issue CCWs. But it does not say what sorts of GC are acceptable.

Well, if he’s now a CoP that means he can issue CCWs to qualified Broadmoor residents. He just has to rescind any CCW MOUs with the SO and get funding to process them.
