Just submitted my application yesterday. How long should I expect to wait before getting Livescan details? -
Lawyers are going to throw anything they can against the wall to see what sticks. Only do the required CCW class? Clearly you don't care about training and preparation. Take more classes? Clearly you are obsessed and fixated on self-defense.Leave a comment:

I added a firearm over the phone, but I think emailing Jennifer Valdez with the firearm manufacturer, model, caliber, and serial number works too.
I just waited until they approved my application to add a firearm cause you have to call in to get the list of approved training vendors anyways.Leave a comment:

The problem SMSO encountered (based on what I heard) was that too many applicants were adding or modifying the firearms on their permit within a month or two of getting it issued. This was bogging down their workload when they wanted to process more new applicants.
Given limited resources, would you rather existing CCW holders be able to modify their permit or have more CCWs issued? Of course the ideal is both, but if you have to choose I'd go with the latter.
tradecraft said that someone who's still in the process was unable to modify their list of firearms. It sounds like Saber Tactics has cleared it up though.Leave a comment:

There is some interesting commentary from attorneys that you can find on YouTube which addresses the number of training hours a prosecutor will find egregious when considering what to charge someone with. Of course anyone involved in a defense situation will be heavily scrutinized by a prosecutor in California, because that's just the way we roll, but they highlighted that too much training was indicative of an unusual approach to gun ownership. Laughable, of course, but the thinking is that if one is training too much that somehow that makes them a more aggressive individual that was preparing for a confrontation that could have been avoided. So yes, there is such a thing as too much training from the subjective perspective of a prosecutor with an agenda.Leave a comment:

Most instructors already teach a 16 hour CCW class for agencies that require it.
16 hours may seem like a lot, but I think I could have gone through 80 hours worth of self-defense instruction and there still would be more I could learn. I try to cram as much as possible into my 16 hour classes and there's still more I wish I could teach.Leave a comment:

Hopefully not a silly question but as I understood it, many trainers setup specific programs for the 8 hour requirement and built a class around it. Now that it's switching to 16, will the programs need to be dramatically revamped? I know there are countless hours one can train, but these classes seemed quite specific.

I just waited until the interview and she kindly let me add or subtract so long as the background shows you are the owner. Then she will submit to the sheriff for signature.Leave a comment:

I have been waiting for 8 months and don’t want to jeopardize with further wait.
Thank you.Leave a comment:

Applicants can still change/ add/ modify their firearms during the application process as long as they do it BEFORE they qualify with their firearms. We just re-confirmed that.Leave a comment:
