Regarding #3, Do we have any idea at what age "elderly" becomes sufficient in the absence of a more specific diagnosis? -

That's the "dark side" of Dark Green. The "light side" are for counties that ask you when do you feel vulnerable/at risk during your normal routine, what do you think could happen, how would you react if attacked, how would a CCW help you -- that sort of thing. If you give reasonable replies (at risk at ATMs or gas stations at night), and talk through reasonable responses, they're satisfied. Dark Green means that pretty much any law-abiding resident can get a CCW with minimal effort and the IA is usually encouraging and helpful w/the app process vs discouraging and unhelpful.Leave a comment:

Well, I think we would need Item 1 to be the only good cause by itself to be considered dark green.Leave a comment:

Has anyone been issued by SDCo SO and posted about it using any of the following for Good Cause? If so, please provide a link. I want to see if SD has gone to Dark Green yet.
(1) "Self Defense"/"Personal Protection"
(2) Regularly gets cash at ATMs or fills up at gas stations late at night in rough parts of town and has proof of that (e.g., receipts). Avid shooter who often goes to a range before or after work, as seen by club membership card, receipts and photos. Often the interviewing LEO asks you for scenarios of threats/attacks that might happen in your daily life and ask how you'd respond.
(3) You have a medical condition (e.g., heart disease, elderly) that makes running, hiding or fighting unrealistic.Last edited by Paladin; 08-13-2020, 11:00 AM.Leave a comment:

The extension to 90 day was also not just for them, but class sizes impacted by Covid too. Though it seems not to hard to get a class right now.Leave a comment:

When I called my instructor about renewal, he was under the impression that his renewal sign off was good for only 30 days still. He had not heard of any change allowing him to give the renewal class within 90 days of expiration.
It would sure be nice if the SDCSD folks updated their web site with such information which would give us a place to point to at least...

I’m all submitted now about 7.5 weeks before expiration. We’ll see if that was enough to avoid a gap.Leave a comment:
