3,5,7 yards,
weak hand too
qualify with all firearms you have listed, so depending how many you list you go through it a few times.
You can miss a few times each time if I recall, it's a standard B27 target style
Basically it's demonstrate safe control of your firearm. You don't need tiny groups so don't stress about that.

There appears to be at least some variation of the shooting program between various instructors but that is essentially correct. If this is a concern, I would contact the trainers you are considering and get the exact answer.Leave a comment:

IMHO, unless you have something in your background, you're good to go. The "assigned to processor" is the deputy running the check. From what I gather, the ladies don't waste time with the pic & prints unless you're approved, pending a successful background check.Leave a comment:

It took exactly 90 days to get my approval. I did not receive an email saying they were looking at my background. I did receive a phone call from the investigator on day 89 asking me to make an amendment to my application in regards to a cellphone ticket from a few years prior. Aside from this interaction, I had no communication after the appointment. Until i was approved(even after talking to the investigator), permitium showed "assigning to processor".
My Permitium shows assigning to processor and I was wondering if this will ever change so good to know. 90 days gonna be nail biting experience until I find out if I get approve!Leave a comment:

So it's been 4 weeks and one day since I submitted my qualification. Permitium has now change to "permit delivered", looks like it'll be showing up any day nowLeave a comment:

So just had my first appointment to go over the paperwork. I was extremely nervous and I don’t know why! However since I didn’t have any issues, no tickets or felonies of any sort. I think that’s pretty good!
Got my fingerprint and pictures taken! So my 90 days as now started! Hopefully I get approve! Lady was extremely nice! Everybody was actually extremely nice!
So a lot of people going for their CCW so that’s good! Took me about 30 minutes to get everything done so was super quick.
I’ll keep you guys posted! I forgot to ask if I should put my manager number in their or if it was okay with the front desk numberLast edited by Jambitiongainer; 01-31-2022, 10:37 AM.Leave a comment:

The expense depends on your trainer. They are free to handle that however they want. Some charge per gun. As I recall, on mine he charged per page. There are 4 or 5 per page. Your first page in included with your class fee. If you want additional pages there was an extra charge for the second page. If you plan on lots of guns on your permit, it probably worth considering this portion of the expense when you choose your trainer.Leave a comment:

State law sets no limit. SD started out at 3. I think it was simply because the CADOJ application has 3 slots for serial number. They then went to 5 for a short time, I think because that was what they had space for to print on the permit. They went to unlimited shortly thereafter when they figured out how to print more on a permit.
I have 7, not that I ever intend to carry most of those but I view having them on my permit as a sort of legal protection in case of an inadvertent mishap in transportation such as you thought one was unloaded but it was not, an unscrupulous or uninformed LEO wants to claim it was loaded but it was not, or the lock on the case that you thought locked did not really lock. Having all your handguns on your permit protects you from the legal consequences of all of that.Leave a comment:

Also training cert must be within 90s previous to issue date of LTC IIRC.Leave a comment:

How many appointments are there? I only ever hear about the one appointment for fingerprinting and final approval interview. I did know that I can not do the training until my application has been approved, in case I get denied. My understanding of the process is submit application online, then the state/local pd/permitium/whoever actually reviews my application has 90 days to review and either approve or deny my application. Then I take my training within 30 days of my scheduled appointment, unless I get denied of course.
My issue is that my application was submitted on Jan 25, so 90 days from that point (included weekends) would put me at April 25. That would leave me exactly 1 week to get my training done and uploaded prior to my scheduled appointment date. Now if the approval process for the application only counts weekdays then that would actually put the deadline to May 31. At which point I wouldn't even know what to do.Leave a comment:

Also this...you don't take the course until you've been approved. Once you're approved you will have 30 days to take the course and upload your certificate. If that 30 days isn't enough, make sure you discuss this with the clerk at your first appointment. I don't know if they make exceptions or not. But 30 days should be plenty of time to get into an open course unless you have personal scheduling issues due to your job or something. But again, talk that over with the clerks at your first appointment.
