Is anyone going? Going to be attending for my first time. It'll be my first time at Sac Valley shooting range as well.

sigpicLord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

Wife and I are going.
Anybody know how the camping works there (fully self contained camper)?
I cannot get any answers from anyone.sigpicComment

You need to check in at the main office before they close. I've camped there 3 times. They'll tell you where to stay. The first two times I stayed at the Appleseed event range, and the third time they made me stay in Cowboy Town for some reason.sigpicLord, make my hand fast and accurate.

It was a really interesting experience.
The training was well done.
It definitely supplemented what I remembered from military training, but it helped my wife, who had never had any formal training improve immediately.
I have a little bit of a beef with Smith & Wesson, regarding their Performance Center M&P 15/22.sigpicComment

We got a little bit of rain yesterday. More so towards the end/packing up, but not much at all. The wind was really killer though. Was a great time, and had a great first time experience. 10/10 would do again. Was my 3rd time out to that range now. Ended up going two times before the event to check it out.Comment

We did camp.
Not knowing the layout or how many people would be attending, we parked across from range 11, because that lot looked like it hasn't been used in a long time.
Turns out that we could have parked across from range 10.
We pulled in at 4:15 Friday, I'd recommend getting there earlier, because the main office closes at 4. Fortunately, there were other staff who pointed us in the right direction.
Unfortunately, my wife and I both had a bunch of things go wrong, so we left early Sunday morning.
I had injured my lower back loading a generator into the truck Friday morning.
She had injured her mid back picking up a box at work earlier in the week.
I could barely prone, she could barely sit.
During the standing course, my M&P 15/22 P. C. out of battery discharged and a brass shard hit her in the arm. Fair amount of blood.
(Staff reaction was excellent, btw)
Neither one of us slept well Saturday, so in the interest of safety, we opted not to stay for day 2.
It rained a little bit Sunday morning around 3am, but had stopped long before Sunday's training.
Still investigating the OOBD.
I found some debris in the forward extractor recess, but the chamber itself wasn't overly dirty. Extracted the bullet from the bore and took some photographs. Going to mic the ammunition for variances, we were using CCI Woodland (correction, Realtree) "clean" ammo that is powder coated. It's possible that the match chamber can't handle the extra thickness.
Don't know yet, still investigating.
Regardless, we are both definitely going again, next time with center fire rifles. . .Last edited by operavoice; 09-19-2022, 5:26 PM.sigpicComment

Not sure if they allow spectators. That event is their KD(known distance) event. They'll actually be shooting out to 100yds or more. The regular Appleseed event is all at 25meters with targets that are smaller to simulate further distances.Originally posted by Black306Been to the range a couple times, but not for an Appleseed event. Do they allow spectators? Next one is next month.

We have a couple spots open for the Rimfire KD Oct 22-23. You must have attended at least one Appleseed. This is more advance than a 25yd event. Lots of walking, lots of scope adjusting and yes...Morgan's Shingle....Comment

Will they let you stay with a camper trailer? Are there any hookups available?Bing!Comment
