    Cheap year membership?

First let me say that I make a yearly donation to the NRA as well as the CGF. However, now I need to become a member to join the local range.

I am not sure how long I will be at the range so I am looking for the cheapest year membership I can get. (Hoping that when it expires they will stop sending the truck loads of junk mail)

You can always request that they send you less requests for donations. I did long ago and just get a couple here and there.

I talked to a guy at my local NRA MC and he told me the Associate membership is only allowed if you are tagging onto somebody elses membership... I didnt believe him but I didn't want to deal with the NRA's website (normally I do anything like this online but I had issues with their site). I just paid $30 and got a regular membership. Next year Ill force them to let me go associate or Ill leave.

Im sure some rich snobs will call me a traitor but I am a college student/single dad living on my GI Bill, even a $20 difference means something to me. I dont believe that $30 (or $10) makes much difference and that the only real impact I make as a member is by increasing the membership and thus political pressure we can use to scare politicians and THAT is why I got my membership in the first place.

Sorry, topic a bit old but just saw this.

geoint, the information you were given is incorrect. Anybody can be an Associate member @ $10. You're probably aware that with associate membership you will not gain voting rights and you skip the excellent magazine subscription, otherwise all benefits remain intact.

I don't see it available online but if you ever need help please feel free to contact me and I'll get you squared away.

You're absolutely spot on that one of the most powerful things about membership is the strength in numbers issue. Absolutely use the associate membership if that's what you're comfortable with, in the future as your circumstances change you can and should join as full member but until then... this will work.

I'm sending a pm to you re: this issue, in case you don't see this reply.

                  Good luck.

eta: Wow, I'm going to add some info after reading the whole thread.

First, I found online associate membership sign up. Disregard the header "Renewal", you should be able to sign up no matter your status.

Q: How can I reduce the amount of mail I receive from the NRA?
A: Simply email us at membership@nrahq.org or dial 800-NRA-3888 and request to be placed on the "Do Not Promote" list. This will significantly reduce the amount of mail you receive without affecting important mailings, magazine service, or your membership renewal.

Included firearm insurance coverage is for $2500 and you can always purchase more, AD&D is for $5000. One thing to remember is ALWAYS follow the instructions from NRA to activate the insurance benefit, it is NOT automatically in force when you sign up for NRA.

Also, if you're joining as a requirement for your local club, keep in mind, they could very well require full annual membership (or above).

                        Hey all

l saw this post and wanted to ask a similar question as opposed to creating a new thread.

Recently ETSed soldier here looking for a rifle range in the LA area. I live in Santa Monica and am just getting an AR off the ground. I don't mind paying a decent annual membership cost for a good range. I don't have any NRA affiliations as I've never really knew much about them. I have my own gear and would only need ammo every so often. So may need a range with a pro shop. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance

If I remember It's for a family member. No magazine just some insurance. Sign up for the whole membership your money goes to a great cause. Tell them not to call or send junk mail they won't. Once a $300 life membership comes around jump on it. They are doing more to keep that gun in your hands than you can imagine.
