Looking for ranges, and to compete.

First time poster here, so bear with me.

Just finished up my time in the Army as a sniper for the last few years and moved back to Visalia, Ca.

My AI chambered in .260 is finally pieced together, and ready to go.

I've been doing some homework trying to find long ranges and competitive communities in the Central California area, but have had no luck.

Trying to find some guys to shoot with and also begin competing.
Anyone shoot out in Central California or know of any groups, clubs, or ranges that don't have full memberships?

There is a private range in Cayama (just south of Taft) that runs monthly long range matches.

Cuyama alternates between Palma (800, 900 & 1,000 yard) scoped and iron sights and 1,000 yard F class or open sights every other month. The matches are the third Sunday of every month with practice on the Saturday before and many people dry camp at the range for the weekend.

You might also look into www.coalingarifleclub.org, they shoot a variety of matches but mostly NRA high power.

Really appreciate the info, Coalinga's not too far from where I'm at.

The cuyama matches sound pretty solid.

Are most of the practical/tactical matches held by the norcal and socal clubs?

            Yes.
            NCPPRC runs matches in norcal.
            CAPRC runs matches in socal.

              Thanks Randall

Looks like Coalinga's club is full.

Anyone know if NCPPRC is maxed on members?

We have specific requirements to be a member of the NCPPRC, but you do not have to be a member of anything (us, the NRA or the range we shoot at) to come shoot in our practice sessions or monthly matches. Everyone is welcome.

Appreciate the info. I'll have to make my way up there soon.

I know this is not what you are looking for but there is a 100 yard reduced 80 shot match in Visalia this Sunday.
On Saturday the 16th there is a 3X600 at Coalinga. The guys who run the matches at Coalinga should all be in Visalia this weekend.
