    Range Report - (56k warning - large pics)

    I finally had the chance to take my 6.5 Grendel AR out to the range today. My first trip was a disaster as a friend I was with pooched my IOR scope by removing the set screws from the elevation turret.

    Today I went out to Angeles Shooting range with my wife. We met up with Nayt there as well. I was shooting out to 100 yards to zero my scope, then her and I traded off shooting 10 round each (a mag each). I got on paper and dialed my scope in fairly close to where I wanted it using 120g Nosler Ballistic Tip's. After that I switched over to Black Hills 123g HPBT factory ammo to really get it precise and see what kind of groups we could achieve.

    Below are some pics of the targets, I have circled the best groups in red;

    3 shot group.

    The top 3 shot group was alright, the 4 shot group on the left wasn't shabby but the 3 shot on the right was my best for the day. 0.284 (I think) according to my Nayt's calipers.

    Top 3 shot group wasn't to bad, the bottom group is a 5 shot string.

    Below is a more recent picture of my rig. I've since added a Larue 9.0 railed free-float system.

    Overall I was EXTREMELY pleased with the results. For it being only the 2nd time I have fired the rifle, I couldn't be happier. As my skill improves I imagine things will only get better. I imagine that as the barrel settles things may improve as well. I'd like to get a rear sand-sock to help as well with my stability.

    The Sabre barrel performed flawlessly. I only had ONE failure to feed with the Black Hills ammo, and it was easily cleared and didn't happen again. It could just as easily been a minor hiccup with the C-Products 10 round mag.

    I can't wait to take it out again! Once I start reloading maybe I can customize a load to this rifle. As I learn more about precision shooting I'd like to see how it performs out to some real distances.

    One of the groups CTC was 0.284. Nice shooting and a nice gun. I have to do a range report on my 700 SPS as well. I am very pleased with the results.

      Your 700 SPS was phenomenal! That Timney trigger is like butter. I haven't felt a crisper trigger break ever.

      That AICS stock makes all the difference in the world as far as ergonomics are concerned. Good choices all around on that build. Once you get that Mike Rock barrel it's going to be game on
