restoring my gun rights?

Need a lil help or advice from someone with knowledge about restoring gun rights. New to this site, was advised to ask my question on here for more info. Got my handgun taken away back in 2013. Was convicted in 2011 for an assault on a peace officer. Now before anyone gets the wrong idea about the charge, I just want to let everyone know that this is my first offense in my life. Never been in trouble in my life. I got a hot head officer that took things a lil to far. It could of been resolved on both our parts a little bit easier but things took theyre course and I had to deal with it. Anyways my firearm was taken on a misdemeanor charge. 243B. Had a agent from the justice department take my firearm and was told I could not get it back for ten years. He said it was possible to get it back with a lawyer that knows firearms. I live in Porterville,ca. Tulare county. Does anyone know a good attorney in my county that's knowledgeable about this situation? any help would be great... Thanks
