    Icon Coloration Question

I've checked the FAQs and have used the search function without success.

What is the significance of the coloration of the envelope icons appearing on the left margin of the forum pages?

The "open" and "closed" envelopes are easy to figure out, as is the "padlock" icon.

Most of the envelope icons are colored orange, but I have also seen them in yellow and blue. What is the difference?
If you build a man a fire, you'll keep him warm for the evening. If you set a man on fire, you'll keep him warm for the rest of his life.

At the bottom of the forum there is a list as to what the icons mean. Open envelopes mean new posts, closed envelopes mean no new posts since you last logged on. Red means hot thread, blue - not so much. The arrow indicates whether or not you replied in the thread.

No evidence as to what "hot" means, but I think it's a combination of views and posts.

        Gents,

Thanks much. I've always viewed the site from the "New Posts" page which does not include the legend.
