Jailed??

I'm new to this site so forgive me for asking... Why do you all say you jailed your firearm?

I live in Utah and have never heard this term. I signed up to this site a few months ago in order to purchase some AR parts. I've found Calgun to be very friendly and full of interesting reads.

When you buy the weapon but have to wait 10 days the take ownership we call it jailed. Welcome too by the way.

Welcome. In California whenever you buy a firearm it has to stay with the dealer for 10 days while they do a background check on you. It's referred to as jailed because it's locked up and can't go home with you until then. It's kinda frustrating.

It's for the children. Making sure that someone who already owns a bunch of firearms won't commit heinous acts with one they have just purchased, until the back ground check is complete. Or they have had a chance to "cool off".
