Don't own any firearm(s)... yet.

Took a safety class at Fisher Executive Protection & Training almost a year.

Not sure what I want for my first. Pistol or rifle. I like both.

Also looking forward to attending my first gun show at the Cow Palace in June.

It's hard to decide on a first gun but I'd recommend looking at your budget first. What type of shooting that you like to do most, accessibility to a range that you can shoot at, availability of ammunition, etc.

Welcome aboard. Glad to have you here. Most people start with a 22 rifle but after your training class you might be ready for something any more powerful caliber.
that said
I love my Ruger 10/22 and 22 ammo is the cheapest ,if you can find it now.
either way good luck finding something that you want to start with.
don't wait now's the time to buy.

Don't Worry Choose anything You are Comfortable with but a Pistol/Handgun 1st then a Rifle as Back-Up or Rifle then Handgun but Both are Important

Welcome Rider, glad you are here. All these guys are correct. Gotta figure out what you are comfortable with, what's in your price range and how you are gonna use it. Me? Personally I thought about defense at first. What's it take for you to protect what's yours? You can never go wrong with a descent 9mm pistol. It'll end up being your defense and plinking weapon. Just my .02 Go to a range that has rentals. Rent something that looks good to you, get a feel for it. If it's too much, the guys at the counter will give you something different, all good brother. The main thing is to just do it. Gotta start to get to the end, I always say.
