    long range shooting

    Hi all,
I'm new member. Was thinking about changing my 308 for 338 Lapua for long range shooting...any suggestions? Bare in mind, there are not a whole lot of places in SolCal to shoot long range, other than desert. Looking for good optics as well. US Optics is 1st on list but I have low (no) budget now. Any sales on optics going on??
    Any suggestions?

Welcome to Calguns! Now to your question. Step 1: save your money and buy a reloading press. If you're gunna shoot 338, you're gunna need it.
Step 2: save more money, than buy the gun and optics. Id buy them together so you don't have the gun and buy substandard optics just so you can shoot it.
                  Step 3: enjoy!

I believe Midway is having an optics sale right now.

Welcome aboard! I have no idea on your question, other than to suggest reading/asking in the centerfire riles section here. You'll get more eyes on your Q since most folks don't look into the "new here" area for Qs to A.
CalGuns Network (CGN) is different from CalGuns Foundation (CGF). Both need our support. I have gold name because I support CGN; plus, I send $10 every two weeks to CGF automatically via online BillPay as described here.
