need some advice

Hello im new here and I was just looking for some one that might be able to point me in the right direction. Its about the doj and the clercks office in San jose. I tried buying a AR and got denied because they got wrong info at the clercks office, here is my story I used to be on probation for having a loaded gun in my vehile I did my time and im of probation but when I was on probation I tried buying a gun because my lawyer said I could witch he was wrong so the court house called me in to court to tell me not to do that again or I would get in trouble but they never extended my probation and the person who denied me at the clercks office just assumed that because I went back to court my probation got extended witch it never did. So thats why they denied me I have my minute order that I got from my records and it clearly says my probation was over last year.. So what can I do to not get the run around?? Can any one please point me in the right direction to get this handle and be able to purchase a gun??
