Glad to find this community. Been around guns since I was a kid, now looking to build a legal AR before it's too late. Pretty new to the process so I hope to find some direction here.

Welcome to Calguns. Here are a couple of links that will show you how to build a lower, the trick at the moment is to find the parts (at a reasonable price):
Hint: the disconnector spring is wider on one end, the wider end must go down into the trigger assembly or the disconnector can hang up and not function properly. -
