Hi all, I'm Doug from central CoCo County. I heard about CalGuns a couple of years ago, but only found this website by accident a couple of months ago. Up until recently, I have been a casual and occasional target shooter. Most of my friends and relatives have firearms and many now have Evil Black Rifles, with a few eastern bloc military style rifles thrown into the mix.
Literally 100's of friends and family friends have served in the military, including a good number at high levels (think of birdies and stars on epaulettes). At 15 least extended family members also served in the military.
A few of them, as well as a few others we know, also have served or are serving at some capacity at various federal alphabet agencies. Almost all are unhappy with the dangerous hard left America has taken.
In recent years, I myself have become increasingly unsettled with the far left "utopian" direction our country has taken, as a result of blatant political and media distortions and misinformation leading to a hysterical, reactionary populace.
I am here not only to learn about the more technical aspects of firearms, but to learn about the political ramifications of potential gun bans and possibly 2A being overturned, and what steps we can take to stop it, or minimize the damage.
I was laid up for a while from a knee injury and partial knee replacement, but am now gimping around. While rehabilitating, I read a lot and did research on history and politics in America, (something I have always been interested in) becoming increasingly concerned as I did so. Since the horrendous tragedy in Connecticut, I have literally sent out hundreds of emails and made numerous phone calls to many of the people I mentioned above, trying to get a grasp on what, if any, behind the scenes maneuverings/machinations our nations politicians, security apparatus and military may be up to. All but a few came up empty. I also got a couple of unsolicited "intel" bits in face to face encounters. These few may be something to be concerned about. I will attempt to get a handle on things and pass them on, but at this point, a good deal is speculating and conjecture on my part, and the part of others.
Thanks
Doug
