Hello from Vandenberg

I wanted to say hello. I have lurked and posted on a few threads. I bet half my low post count are on the DiFi thread . I'm Air Force, but being in Space Command I have few opportunities to shoot. My first assignment was awesome and got to do convoy stuff with the mobile crew. I was expert marksman with M16 out of basic, and got M9 expert then. Fast forward 4 years and I realize I hadn't shot, so I picked up a Walther P99cAS. I love it! I wanted a long gun, but something that was a bit bigger, and went with the Saiga .308 from a forum member. I have made some changes myself, though he had already done a lot.



I am politically against the idea of the party system, and will at times oppose Democrats and Republicans. I feel strongly about the Second Amendment, as well as the First (not just the free speech). I voted Libertarian this time, but have no dedication to them.

Welcome! I really REALLY want to take the kids out to see a launch out there someday. I've never been up there but if you had any advice for a regular citizen that wanted to go see a launch I would appreciate it.

Yes! That is one reason I wanted semi-auto .30 caliber. Hopefully will be ideal for the job, though my car isn't suited for retrieving what I will kill.

You can always come out to the Visitor's center and watch from there. I imagine if you went into Lompoc and got to Surf beach it would be a great place to watch too, if it were a south base SLC that is. I'm just an instructor, so part of a tenant unit here, but I hope to get into a launch squadron after this tour is done.

Any car is fine. Wrap it in a tarp for transport to the game wardens station. I have loaded hogs onto a firebird before. I can give you some good spots when you are ready to go.

Sounds good. But my car is 3.5" from the ground, will give me challenges
