    Technical/Troubleshooting site questions

I try to check the search function before I make a post, in case the topic has already been covered. I tried searching under private messages, inbox, troubleshooting and technical issues.

Is there a forum or thread for technical problems?

I think I'm having some trouble with PMs and my inbox or may'be it's human error, aka me as I'm new here.

What is the problem? I get bent when I go to a not-so-elaborate site and look for a feature I just "have to have" and it isn't where I KNOW it should be.

But if your PM's are disappearing or never getting to where they are supposed to go, then that is something else.

Okay, try to keep this concise.

If someone sends me a PM, I get a pop up notifying me. Well, before I'd click cancel because it was distracting when I was focused on reading a thread but then I wouldn't see the person's message when I went into my inbox. So then I started selecting open message in a new screen, so I wouldn't lose track of where I was reading but it doesn't open the new message at all. So I switched from Opera to Safari in case it was a browser issue but that didn't help either. Also, when I check my inbox, it will show old messages I've already answered as new messages and the new messages won't show up. I haven't touched settings or preferences or changed anything on my computer or within the user CP.

I've never used the pop ups- but when I hit the PM link it takes me to my inbox where I see all messages that I have received and not deleted. I don't understand why new messages wouldn't be in your inbox regardless of how you treat the pop up.

I don't use Opera or Safari on a regular basis (no access right now), so this is conjecture.

The reason the new window doesn't open might be due to a pop-up blocker...usually (in default IE7 and Firefox 2.x) there is a little notification bar, but maybe your browser(s) are blocking popups silently.

Sometimes I find that I need to refresh a window so that read threads/PMs show up properly marked as 'read'; similarly, posts/messages received after the last time you refreshed your browser window may not show up until it is refreshed.

That's just what I've noticed using FF 2.x

I'll test out refereshing a screen

The Opera has a pop up blocker that notifys me a new screen has attempted to open and whether I want to open it or not but the Safari does not because it pops up new screens on it's own, just not on Calguns. If I go to any other site, they pop up...for example visiting an adult website would be a nightmare.

But I will try refershing to screen and see if that works.

Safari has a pop up blocker. Command shift and k or right under the file menu. On mine I still get a msg but it won't open the window. If you're getting the window open that shows your inbox maybe refresh it and see if your new msgs are there.

Cool, I think that seems to have worked for the Safari, hopefully problem finally solved

Thank you Justin, Patriot and Otalps

Whoa! I didn't do anything, my input was same as Patriot's so I didn't reply.

But thanks for the thanks Lisa!
