Hey y'all! I don't even own a gun yet, but I'm looking forward to purchasing my first rifle in the new future. At first, I was shopping around for a nice AR-15 to protect my home and family. But as I got to looking around, I found myself very attracted to the Sig 556.

I found a wealth of information on this forum, and more all over the net. I'm so glad there are sites like this, where one can educate themselves and gain access to information on wide array of arms legal in our beautiful state. I wish our laws weren't so strict, but at least now, I can see what options I have with what limited options we're given.

Sig 556 is great man! but if you are looking into something for home defense I would just get a shotgun first. The sig is gonna cost some dough and you can get a shotgun for a lot cheaper and protect your family better. just my .02 brother! Welcome to Calguns!

Welcome man. +1 to the shotgun for home defense. .223/5.56 might not be the best idea for home defense. Plus if you do have to use it, it will be less of a blow if its a $300 shotgun vs a sig $1,XXX 556 getting picked up by the police during the investigation.
