My local range wants $20 per shooter. After the expense of ammo, this is a $50 event every time. I have nothing to compare this to. Is this a normal price for admission or is my range inflated?

I pay 18.00 for a session, roughly 1.5 to 2 hrs. Im usually done in 50 mins or so.Don't take refuge in the false security of consensus.

$150/year membership and $3 a day to shoot: $4 steel fees if shooting silhouette.
Matches are usually $20 which covers range fees too.

Hey Glock Girl,
Judging from your location the 20$ you're talking about is Oak Tree Gun Club? Just as FYI(unless they changed it) its 10$ admission Friday nights, and on Black Friday they have a deal to get the 1yr membership 2 for 1, so 50% off if you get a friend or family to go in with ya.(which is what i did)
If you're in the SCV, you might also wanna check out http://www.aplacetoshoot.net/ if you already havent!Comment

Rangemaster in San Luis Obispo (SLO) is $18/hr if you bring your own ammo and $16/hr if you buy theirs. It's a super nice range, but a little rich for my blood. The outdoor range in SLO is $5/day for members and $10/day for non-members.
There is also an indoor range in Santa Maria (I believe it's club-owned) for $10/hr.Comment

I think I know the range you are talking about as I am a member there.
It's an awesome range. The best one in L.A. area in my opinion and the nices outdoor one I've been to.
Oh, and all you spent was $30.00 in ammo? That's all the shooting you did? LOLFreedom in the USA is not the freedom from offense. It is actually the freedom to offend.Comment

I've been a member of the Firing Line for over 20 years. New annual membership is $150. Free range time. If you shoot 1 time a month it's well worth it. A lot of people don't like shooting indoors, but when it's raining (like today) or you feel like shooting in the evening, an indoor range isn't so bad.
Angeles Ranges is a nice outdoor range. $50 new member annual fee ($20 off if you bring in a gunshow receipt), $30 annual renewal. $10 range fee ($13 without a membership so you gotta go 10 times to make it worth it.)
$20 range fee = Oak Tree. I like going there from time to time just because I like to hose the falling plates and shoot the dueling trees. Their reactive steel is more fun than Angeles.NRA Life Member
