Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. I'm Allen, new to this site but not to firearms and hobbies related to their use and enjoyment. Briefly, I worked in inland southern CA as a law officer for 28 years, 23 of which were spent as a part-time range trainer while assigned to corrections, patrol, SWAT, vice/narcotics, general investigations, and robbery/homicide venues. I have fairly extensive expert witness experience in firearms ID, nomenclature, ballistics, and forensics venues.
I retired in June 2005, allowing me a lot more time to pursue my personal passions of hunting--fishing (both fresh- and saltwater)--shooting--bullet casting--and handloading (35 calibers, last time I counted).
I am also a PASSIONATE advocate for Constitutional Rights, to include the 2nd Amendment. Contrary to the views of some, a law officer can and should be an advocate for civil rights. The Bill of Rights isn't a "suggested reading list".
