    Moving back to CA! (eek)

So I lived in CA for about 10 years from 99-09. Didn't really know what I was missing, so it wasn't a big deal. I moved to Texas and have been here for the last two years. Full cap mags, pistol grips, damn near anything you want.

I just got hired for a job at March ARB in Riverside. I'm super excited about the job and the food (for the record, tex-mex blows).

I'm concerned with the shooting scene down there...I've never lived in SoCal before so I'm a bit nervous.

As far as living, I'm looking at Woodcrest, Hemet and Redlands. Any comments on those areas?

Also, I have several ARs that I've procured whilst in Texas. Magazines are going to my brother in Montana for safe keeping until I can transfer out (couple years down the road). As far as I can tell, all I need to do is put bullet buttons on them and buy some ten rounders.

What good stores are around Riverside? Gunsmiths worth their salt?

    Shooting locations? Prefer outdoor.

I'm into IDPA, USPSA, long range (have a 338 LM that I've run to 1500 yards but would like to push it farther), short range benchrest, tactical shoots, etc. Have no problem traveling to the desert, and was looking at the map....should be plenty of BLM out east to drag a pop up trailer and blast at steel. Any groups of precision guys that do group shoots in the desert? Would love to meet some private property guys too. First purchase on my list is a short action tactical rifle...would like to get into the long range tactical competitions and the 338 is a bit much.

Ohh, I also handload everything...from a couple Ackley Improved rifles to my race pistol to the big bores (338, 405 Win and a couple 45-70s).

Anyway, looking to get into the scene out there and make some good quality friends....

    Thanks,

    Ed

I live in Hemet and would not recommend that anyone move here. Its prob one of the worst towns in the I.E. to move to. I'm outta here in a year tops. I hate it so much. Everything here blows. Crime, trashy people, pedophiles, nothing to do, far from everything, etc., etc. Redlands is a lot nicer.

Good to know...last thing I want is to arm half the county with my collection...what about Yucaipa, Murrieta or Temecula?

Temecula would be my #1 choice, way ahead of the others. Welcome, and good luck!
