That's what my marine buds tell me. Better to get something good first and not sit around wishing you had something else.

    Thanks for the good advice.

In two months I should have saved $1200. I should have enough for a good handgun by 21. Also a quick question. Can I start the purchase process 10 days before I turn 21 so I can has the pistol on my birthday?

                  Don't forget your .22, 12ga, and 1911 you'll need too.

Well, for $1200 or more, you can get a good 1911 (personally, I'd go with a Dan Wesson or Les Baer), or a nice Glock and a few cases of ammo and some range fees. At least, these would be my preferences, if I were to get my first handgun again. I ended up getting a Glock 35 as my first handgun, by the way, still one of my favorites.

Now, all people are different, so I suggest you to go to the range with someone who's already a shooter (I don't know your comfort around firearms) and try as many handguns as you can. See which gun fits your hands best.

I wanted a reliable AR-15 with a rail system so I could dress it up with some nice furniture. Magpul, Eotech, etc. As for handgun I just want something tactical that shoots straight and looks good.

I'd probably get a precision rifle in a few years also. Maybe after graduation. With a real job comes more money.

Ill say a pistol and AR15 are good to have. FUN FUN FUN.
Or he can combine the two with an AR pistol and kill two birds with one stone.
