I know you are going to ask where is Chowchilla, well it's about 2 hours north of the center of the universe. Of course we all know that the center of the universe is Bakersfield right? Seriously I am a High Power shooter, I run the monthly matches at the Coalinga range and help run the State Championships held there. I am on the High Power committee of the CRPA board and hold a position on the board of the California Grizzlies Junior Rifle team. I belong to the Coalinga and Visalia clubs. I hope to be posting more about the Grizzlies, they are the most successful junior team in history and I bet most of you have never even heard of them. There is plenty of opportunity for kids to get involved in shooting in CA. I go to Camp Perry every year with the team from the Coalinga Rifle Club. We have several women on our team and I would like to see more women involved. We also have some of the former juniors on our team who kept shooting after they "aged out" of the junior category. I am always trying to get more people involved in High Power and feel that competition is the best way to improve your shooting skills. So hopefully if I will be hearing from some people who would like to start shooting more. Most of the High Power matches are now holding a "tactical" class to allow more people to get involved in shooting. So don't let a lack of equipment hold you back from coming out to a match.
