    Waiting between guns?

    Hello,
Still somewhat new to the whole firearm thing, so I had a question about purchases. Is there a wait between being able to purchase two guns?
If I get a transfer lets say from someone on here, do I need to wait to do another one? Conversely if I buy one at a store, once the 10 day is up do I need to wait to do a transfer (or vice versa)?

There is no wait between private party transfers (PPT.) Nor is there a restriction on how many you can do in a given time. There is nothing about the 30 day handgun limit effecting PPTs.

So you could PPT a pistol every day of the week (or multiple times a day or whatever you can afford.) You could buy one in store, subject to the 1 in 30 days rule, and then go and PPT 5 more that same day. And for the next 30 days. Or 300 days.

When you do a ppt do you still have to wait the ten days before receiving the firearm and do you still do the dros process?

Yes. Since the PPT goes through an FFL, the FFL must follow those procedures.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Handgun PURCHASES by most civilians from FFLs are limited to 1 every 30 days.

Handgun private party transfers have no restrictions and do not count as a handgun purchase so they do not affect one's 1 every 30 day limit. So if you purchased a handgun from a store and started the DROS form 29 days ago, and you acquire another handgun through a private party transfer and start the DROS form today, then you can purchase another handgun from a gun store and start the DROS for that tomorrow.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that, as I've done handgun PPTs less than 30 days after a handgun purchase never cut it that close for another handgun after the PPT.

Also, you can purchases as many long guns as you like every day. However, I think the BATFE wants to know about you if you buy multiple long guns daily.
