Hello,
I am new to calguns and am anxious to get myself a handgun. However I had a bit of a problem I just had a lawyer fix for me. I had a felony(wobbler) conviction reduced to a misdemeanor and then had the misdemeanor dismissed. My lawyer said that would work and I have read stuff on the internet that would suggest this was the proper action to have these rights restored. My lawyer also said he would fax the petition to DOJ, so my question is when or if I should try to purchase a firearm.Has anyone had a similar situation as mine? I hope it is OK to ask this here.

You can submit a eligibility form to the DOJ I believe it is and find out if you are eligible before you make your purchase. I will look for a link and put it in this thread if I can find it.

Yes - should work, provided that the misdemeanor wasn't one of those that would otherwise disgualify you (eg. domestic violence)
