AR-15 California Build & Registration

I joined calguns.net today. I need Answers. i purchased a complete DPMS Panther kit and Local OLL in a gunshop. I know how to assemble it, but how do I register it? Is it already registered through the Lower that I bought and have to wait 10 days for? Do I have to fill out some california forms? Do I take it somewhere and have it inspected? I can't find anything on any forums I've searched, so please just answer these questions if you know the answer rather than send me on some wild goose chase thread link. This is my first AR 15 build, but I'm experienced with this rifle. I am going to purchase a prince50 Bullet Button, or as I like to call it (Bull**** button). I just need answers before i assemble it and call it a day without following legal steps. thank you for your time.

as long as that lower you have IS NOT on the DOJs "no-no" list (i like to call b*llsh*t list) your alright...

you should take a look at the flo-chart. (http://www.calguns.net/caawid/flowchart.pdf)

so add the BS button if you want the forward pistol grip and all that stuff.

so yeah you can have a DMPS lower PARTS kit... thats fine. as long as your lower do not say "PANTHER" on it, and the only thing you need to do when you buy it is DROS and wait 10 days. no other registration needed.

rifle must be 30+ inches
barrel must be 16 inches

If you purchased your lower in a CA gun shop your 99.9% assured your lower is on the OLL list (I always leave room for some error). Gun shops are not going to sell you anything illegal if they want to stay in business! And yes your DROS for the lower is the only "registration" required. Everything else could be purchased out of state and shipped directly to your door. Just like Vandal said, follow the flow chart and grats on your purchase!

Just a tiny little bit of terminology correction needed here.

There is NOT a list of approved rifles. There is only a list of BANNED rifles.

So you do not say that a rifle is "on list". You say that a rifle is "off list".

That might not sound important, but it very much is. Words have meaning.

In order for an AR to be legal it must have an OLL or "off list lower". Meaning the lower cannot be name by make and model on this list: http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/infobuls/kaslist.pdf

The way I read the OP, his lower is not DPMS brand at all. Just some random OLL brand. In which case he is golden. But for some reason others thought it was DPMS. So I figured I would mention that all Panther Model Lowers from DPMS are banned (see link above for confirmation). But I am pretty sure that does not apply to the OP since to me it reads like his lower is a totally different but unnamed brand.

FYI: I am aware that people have put together a list of legal lowers in order to help new guys find something online at a price they can afford. However, that list will NEVER be complete. Everyday a new brand comes out, or an existing brand releases a new lower. So while helpful, it is not the correct way to determine if something is legal or not. Use the actual list that carries legal weight in order to be absolutely certain your lower is NOT listed and thus legal.
