    BTT?

I see lots of posts in threads, that simply say BTT. I have searched asking "What is BTT" and gotten no good answer to my question.
I am sure that once I am told what it means, I'll feel really ignorant, but in the mean time, I feel really ignorant NOT knowing, and you know the old saying about dumb questions.....

I understand that for the sake of brevity, and avoidance of redundancy, some abbreviation is best. BUT, the world is not entirely populated by people who text, rather than talk, and some plain old American English language skills would be appreciated by us "Oldsters". I don't believe that CALGUNS.net is hurting for the miniscule amount of bandwidth it would take to just say what you are trying to say.

    Bump This Thread
    And Welcome.

          OK......

But, now that raises another question. WHY, would one post it in multiply repetitive posts, in the same thread? I saw a couple of threads, where there were in excess of 12-15 posts, all by the original thread starter, which simply said, "BTT", and MAYBE one or two actual comments in between. I don't get it. Are they simply trying to get their post count up to some imagined level of acceptance?
It just makes no sense to me, to post a thought, or an offer of sale of an item, then post 12, or more, separate times, "btt". Being a veteran of a few other BBS's, I have known some folks don't like to look like newbies, so they post any silly thing they can, to get their post count up to whatever they perceive to be an acceptable level. That seems awfully juvenile for adults, in this type of a setting, so I imagine there is some other reason?
I hate to be a pest, but I can't think of a reason, and I tend towards being OCD, until I get to the root of my curiosity.
And, yes, I know what killed the cat.
Thanks for the knowledge and the warm welcome.

You are most likely seeing this in "for sale" ads. Forum rules prohibit excessive comments and chatter in the for sale section, and sellers are only allowed to "bump" a for sale thread once every 24 hours. Most have nothing more to ad to the original post, so BTT, TTT, BUMP, etc all put the for sale ad back on the top of the first page in the section where it is more likely to get seen.

Agreed with the above comment - the discussion forum software puts the most recent posting at the top of the board. Thus its a way for a seller to affirm that the thing is still for sale and move the "advertisement" to teh top of the list.

I have searched asking "What is BTT"
                Not very hard, I think.

Also stands for BACK TO TOP because it pushes the thread back to the top of the list on the forum.

Thanks for the explanations, folks. I am afraid I am an oldster, and not familiar with the modern lexicon. I did not understand what it meant, nor why it was being used, so frequently, in for sale ads. NOW, that it has been explained, I understand completely what it is all about. But for an old guy, who is not one spending loads of time on the computer, and learning these new abbreviations, it took someone giving me a simple explanation. Sorry some had to begrudge an old fart, for asking a simple question. But, thanks, to those who were helpful.
