This is my first post, although I joined a few weeks ago to do some research before purchasing my first gun. This morning I picked up my 870 express (7 shot model) after what felt like an eternity.
My buddy and I, both first time shooters, loaded up our gear and headed up the the "Glass Factory" (Santa Barbara). After firing my first round I was certain the gun had jammed -- turns out I just had no concept of how hard I needed to be racking the slide.
Conveniently for me, four gentlemen arrived from whom I got some much needed advice.
I ended up having a great time, and was really surprised by how eager the other shooters were to help me figure out my gear, and to let me check out theirs. All in all it was a very positive experience and I can't wait to get back out there.
