    Moving to Palo alto!!!!

    Hey guys!
I wanted to first say thanks for all the info that I have gotten from the FAQs and reading hundreds of posts. It is much appreciated!

After lots of reading I have a gun plan for my new home and I wanted to run it by a few people to make sure im on the right tract and not breaking laws.

I plan on bringing 2 pistols and a shotgun. I'm bringing my S&W M&P full size 9mm. I will NOT bring my full cap mags and I will buy 10 rounders when I get there. I will also bring my Les Bear TRS 45ACP. I'm bringin 8 rounders and 2 10 rounders. I have to register them within 30 days of arriving correct?
I'm also bringing my browning BPS shotgun with a mag extension making it a total of 8 rounds. I will be bringing a few hundred round of 45 and 9mm and about 15 rounds of buckshot. Any problems here?

So when I move my pistols in my car they need to be locked in something so I'm going to pick up a small pistol safe. When I transport my shotgun I will not need it locked correct?

I'm Keeping a REALLY close eye on the Santa Clara CCW future. It really sucks moving from Missouri with a CCW, 2 AR's and 4 pistols but its a good move for me overall.

Thanks again for all your help!

FYI, if your full cap mags were owned by you prior to 1/1/2000 than you can bring them in as you owned them pre-ban. That said, you do not need to lock your shotgun in a case as it is not required for long guns. Hand guns should be in a case in your trunk and unloaded. They do not have to be locked in a container as long as they are in a case and seperate from the ammo.

Good luck and welcome to Komifornia!

Congrats! I bet you are in the tech world so you are fine. Bring what you can that you can get cheaper outside of CA. CA overcharges for their guns. I mean big time. Anyone saying otherwise never lived outside of the state for a long term.

So if you can get AK patterns for cheap do it (put BB)! If you can get M9A1 for under $600 do it! if you can get the guns you want for cheaper than you can in California...DO IT!!! Same with AMMO...Stock up and get a ton. Everything from guns to ammo is cheaper. Seems like you did your homework. Double check. 10 Round magazines is the limit for rifles/ handguns unless you go featureless in a rifle which mars the original design. Lots of laws and I am not one to give them as I am still realizing some of them after my move from WA in 09.

Congrats...Laws here stink, your taxes will go to the lazy and uneducated, liberals rule this land, but I assume you came here for a better career and money...That makes moving easier and all the other things I said tolerable. Palo Alto is beautiful and a nice area.

Congrats brother and welcome to CA.

Palo Alto! That will be some serious culture shock when it comes cost of housing!

San Jose is a lot more affordable, but welcome to CA!
