Patrolling the Mojave Almost Makes You Wish For a Nuclear Winter...

Hey, everyone. Don't think too hard about the title. Either you'll get it or you won't, lol.

I first learned to shoot from a Law Enforcement class I took in High School (though I heard my teacher caught some heat for it. But that's another story). After that, I went to the range a few more times, and then abruptly stopped (for whatever reason).

I guess the itch to shoot finally had to be scratched, because just a few days ago, I picked up my first handgun, A Rock Island Armory 1911A1 Tactical. I could post pictures, but I'm guessing you guys know what it looks like, lol. I have two rifles as well, but as long as I've had them, I've never fired them.


Anyway, short story long, I bought a new handgun and thought I should join here to learn and to have a place to ask advice.

Ha, no black rifles here. Just wood and metal, bolt action.

Mosin Nagant and a customized number using a lot of Gew98 parts (I didn't build it).

The Rock is probably going to the range next week. The Mosin and Gew98 aren't going to be fired anytime soon, as I want to have them both looked at by a gunsmith first. The Mosin is pretty beat and there's a lot about the Mauser I don't know (it's an heirloom). Last quote I got to have them looked at was $100 a piece (I could buy a whole different Mosin for that price ) Besides, the Mauser originally had a scope (which was broken when I got it), so I need to replace that as well.

All in all, it's going to be a few hundred dollars before I know either of them is range ready, I think.
