    Future Californian

Hey guys. New guy here from Detroit, Michigan. Received orders for Camp Pendleton in June. Recently purchased SA XD9 service with hi-cap mags. Plan on sending those to my Dad in Idaho and picking up the required 10rd mags before we move. As I stare out my window at 10 inches of snow, June could not come fast enough.

hahaha. Nope. It's more akin to 'built like a brick sh*t-house'.

welcome Brick. Today here in SoCal, it was a chilly 62 degrees outside and I was unable to wear my shorts! Had to don the jeans and a heavyweight T-shirt. :P

Welcome! Moving to a new place is always tough. The weather being much nicer does ease the pain a bit!

Sorry about the mags. We're working on it.

Thanks everybody! Haven't had too much chance to search around the site but is there any great resources for finding ranges in the area? I know Pendleton has one I can get onto but I think it's only open weekends and being in the medical field, my one day a week off is often not on a weekend.

Welcome TheBrick to SoCal. The Weather in June here should be similar to now so don't worry that you wold miss anything. Assume that you'd have a firing range somewhere inside Camp Pendleton, else there're a few few good ones in OC and SD.

Welcome, the nearest range will be iron sights in Oceanside.

If your Corp and its sounds like it, Pendleton has a nice handgun range and the ammo is very reasonable. Their rifle range is sadly much harder to get onto and its Marines only unless there's a special event. You need to call the Base and verify that its alright for you to have your XD9 on base in your housing. Last time I talked Buddy down there you couldn't have any personal firearms in your on-base housing.

Second on Iron Sights, its pretty common to see Marines shooting there.
