relocating to CA with my firearms?

I am currently a resident of CT and i am looking into relocating to CA.
    1. How can I transport my firearms?
    2. Do I have to register them?
    If so then.....
    3. How do i register them?

answers depend on the kinds of firearms.

Some must be locked up when transported, some have to be registered, some can't be brought into the state.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

You should be good to go, but look at the PM I sent you re the magazines. Your trunk is GTG for the handguns as long as as you can't fold down the back seat to get into the trunk. If you can then you should get a lockable container with a lock to transport them.

Oh and magazines can be loaded and in the container as long as a magazine is not inserted into the handgun and there is no round in the chamber.

        Welcome to Calguns.

You have come to the right place. In both senses.

As a lifelong newenglander now in California, I can honestly tell you all the BS you hear about CA being hard on gun owners is total nonsense. It's easier here than any east-coast state I've lived in before (or foreign country). Just stop thinking about full auto and big magazines and you will be fine. Regarding registration, none of that here, local cops/chief don't need to know, lock it in the trunk of your car or whatever (ship/fly out in sealed container) and you may chose to transport ammo in separate container, many folks here do, but it's not strictly required in my understanding.

          Welcome!
