new to calguns, new to gun ownership

Hi all. This site was recommended to me by another gun owner, unfortunately, I don't have his username at the moment. I'm new to gun ownership in general, not new to california gun laws, and new to the site.

I have a .38 special revolver and a marlin 925R .22LR with a pretty nice scope my brother gave me. I'm mostly here for advice on various rifles I've been looking at and legality questions as well as reviews on rifles and handguns, which I see there are quite a lot of.

I really want to avoid political discussions, I already get enough of that on facebook!
