Hello. Allow me to introduce myself as Hopalong.
I have "lurked" for quite some time here, and finally decided to register, to show my support for your site.
Although I have lived in California for almost 36 years now, I grew up in the Cradle of Liberty, about 12 miles from Concord and Lexington Green. Every year, growing up, our school class walked the Freedom Trail. I have returned dozens of times to experience the profound awe I have for the true Patriots who risked everything to be free.
I believe I understand the definition of "militia," as our Founding Fathers did, since I am an avid reader of American History. Our politicians ignore history, for uninformed votes. How easily we forget.
I started shooting about 50 years ago at YMCA camp, when it was called riflery. I am a member of the NRA, the local gun club, and love the smell of gunpowder and Hoppes #9.
The gun club is within walking distance from my place. About 20 years ago some neighbors tried to solicit my support to close it down because of the noise. I told them it sounded like freedom.
I think it's ludicrous what an honest , law abiding, and upstanding citizen has to go through in this state to obtain a CCW. The DOJ roster of safe guns insults our intelligence.
I believe we, as Californians, are being treated as second class citizens, and am encouraged by current lawsuits and CGN.
When I find myself in a social setting being somewhat mocked because of my hobby of guns, I am sure to remind everyone, "guns are as American as Mom and apple pie".
Keep up the good work, and God Bless America!
