Jumping in after a long lapse. I have been away from pistol shooting and jumped back in to find I can't see the sights any more. I started trying to learn about red dots and reflex sights and found it very frustrating. Our state has made this a miserable process.

Many friends tried to explain their versions of the CA gun laws, but I found myself back here again after many years away. I think I am getting the concepts, but who really knows. In any case, I got the point that I can't buy the more modern optic ready versions without getting lucky or spending more than it takes to just buy the old ones and have the modifications done. I ordered a G34 and I'm in the process of reading up on who I can trust with the work. I'm looking forward to trying to run the reflex sights and getting back in the game.

Moving to CA from Iowa. Will have lots of questions about the legality of some of my firearms, and getting a new ccw for the state. Anyone want to point me in the right direction of where to post? I've browsed a little, and it seams there are threads already devoted to this, but with more pages than I care to read through. Thanks!

Go to the CCW section and post a question for obtaining it there based on where you are moving to. Many places will not allow one.

Guns: go to general gun discussions and let us know what you have.
Mags., 10 rounders max.
No threaded barrels.

Many restrictions on ARs, read the threads on featureless.

IIRC, 2 months to register firearms.
