    New Guy!

Hello all! I actually only heard of this website on saturday. I was with a buddy at Turners in San Diego picking up his new AK47 when I heard a guy metion this site. Earlier that day at the Crossroads gun show in Del Mar I bought my first AR-15 lower from JD Machine. I am pretty stoked and look forward to picking it up next week. Since then just about every free moment has be spent doing internet research on what parts to buy. I wish the funds were there to buy all the top parts, but they just aren't. So My first one will be a budget build. So any advice will be greatly appreciated. To date the only firearm I own is my grandfather's WWII 1911 sidearm. Last year was the first time it had been shot in over 60 years!

Great site, I think many hours will rapidly pass me by while learning here.

      +1
Keep that man. Don't let it go.

Calguns is a great place with friendly, knowledgeable people. I'm glad you heard about it by way of mouth. Glad to have you on board.

As for the budget AR builds, I don't know much about specific AR parts, but just a tip: try using the search feature on the top right before you start a thread in one of the sub-forums. Most questions one could have are already answered, but if you are having trouble, go ahead and ask. Somebody will help

      Once again, welcome aboard!

Thanks guys. It's funny there is a forum for just about every interest. So far I've been apart of a few of them, 5 different VW forums, Chevy truck forum, Ford Diesel forum, 4 wheeler forum, Dune Riding forums, and one of two others. Usually people are very helpful and curtious, and some of the best free guidance out there. One thing I've learned about the forums is that the search feature is your friend, use it and abuse the hell out of it before you start your own thread on a topic that has been beaten to death before you arrived. I plan on hangin' out for awhile.

Yeah, it won't be going anywhere! Something like this gun is just about priceless. I also have his original leather holster.
