A VM is a note delivered directly to a users' Control Panel.

I have not found a real use for it compared to a PM (Private Message).

Maybe someone who has been around longer can provide us both with a good usage for the function compared to a PM.

    AND...

    Welcome

You're correct - you can post a VM to another members CP when you visit their CP as a 'Visitor'.

The problem is having that message read. The member doesn't get a notification a VM has been left and most do not make regular visits to their own CP to see the message. I've gone months without going to my CP and have found messages left for me long before. Anything time sensitive is better left to PMs.

Also, VMs are public messages which can be seen by anyone visiting the CP.
