    n00b from sacramento area

    Hello all,

I have heard many a great things about Calguns, but never joined until now. I look forward to learning from the vast amount of experience within this forum, but I also hope to get some questions answered.

I was pushed to join because I have a question I need answered that I could not find the answer to online.

    That thread is posted here:

Please excuse my extremely long rant about Bass Pro, but am just wondering if making someone wait longer than 10 24 hour periods to pick up a firearm is legal. thank you for your time and I look forward to speaking with you all.

      Welcome.

Store policies may differ from legal requirements. Is it legal - yes - store policy. I don't purchase anything from shops that require more than what is already legally allowed. If you purchase then you are subject to their rules.

are you sure its legal for them to keep it from me?

i don claim to know the answer, I'm honestly asking...i can't find the actual law anywhere

the way I look at it, i did the paperwork, passed the background check and the gun is legally owned by me, just not in my possession.

if someone has something of yours that you own, and they refuse to give it to you, is that not stealing?

You won't find a law that says they can or can not make you wait longer than 10 days because no law covers it.

The store sets the policies they want. You can choose to shop there or not. It's understandable that you didn't know to ask that question ahead of time, but most know that FFLs can have different policies.

Look at it this way. If your 10 days ended on a day they were closed do you think the law would force them to open their store for you? Of course not.

                        found the code:
                        26815.
                        No firearm shall be delivered:
                        (a) Within 10 days of the application to purchase, or, after notice by the department pursuant to Section 28220, within 10 days of the submission to the department of any correction to the application, or within 10 days of the submission to the department of any fee required pursuant to Section 28225, whichever is later.

Only says it can not be delivered within 10 days. Says nothing about when it 'must' be delivered. Nothing about 'will be delivered within 11 days'. Surely there's a reasonable limit for the FFL's delay but that would probably be contract issue, not a firearms law issue.

                              Welcome.

Sacto? A bunch of us shoot in Oroville, listed in the Curio & Relic Forum. A short drive from your QTH.

Open range, no Range Master. Do whatever you want.

The down side. On the weekends...argh, crowded, weird stuff; dangerous.
