    Great Forum

Just like the screen full of other noob threads, I just joined. Currently only a shotgun owner but hope to add to that soon.

Any advice as to where to get a good deal on an entry level handgun?

    Appreciate the comments!

Hello and welcome! A lot of guys have been raving over the SIG P6 / P225 as a great beginner handgun. It is in 9mm. I want to get one too, but haven't gotten around to it. Expect to pay $350 or less. They are used police trades, but a couple of guys have gotten them refinished and they look absolutely GREAT.

    Enjoy your stay!

      Turby,

Thanks for the heads up. That price sure sounds a lot lower than the other quotes I get for SIG around $900 or so. Is this a weapon I can order or is that price for a used one if I can find it?

      Thanks!

Because the P6 / 225 is West German surplus, the pricing is pretty good. Here's a sample -

Bud's Gun Shop - Your trusted source for firearms, ammunition, and accessories. Shop our extensive selection of guns, ammo, optics and more.

Of course, it's out of stock, but if you can find it, it's a great deal. Keep searching - Google can help - but you can also check the Calguns sponsoring vendors for help as well.

Don't be fooled by the sub $350 price versus the $900 you've been seeing - this is real SIG quality and is a really good deal.

Next you should get a decent Rifle (Yugo M59/66 or Russian SKS ) and then a couple of handguns (Ruger Mk 1 or 2 and a Gen 2 or 3 Glock 17 )

I hear you about next level stuff. Believe me I am interested but don't have the budget or the time to get up to speed on handling them. I have just got the wife comfortable with me having the shotgun and getting the handgun. I am open to any advice though!

Yup. One step at a time. Look into the P6 or the revolver that was recommended. You can't go wrong with either, in my opinion.

Where are you located? It helps to know, especially with finding pistols.

OC Armory is having a killer deal on Glock 17s.

Well, just my opinion again, with the recent run on all things gun related, I think you're going to have a hard time in general finding ANY bargains. Check the for sale section here, and do some more Google searches. Call up any local shops close to you to see if they can locate one for you. I don't know how easily it'll be to find one, as I haven't started shopping for mine yet (got another project to finish off first). Good luck!
