    Hello new here

Hello, new here looking at learning bit before I make a decision.I feel I need to gather as much info as I can.looking at buying my first pistol, well first gun I should also say.I think this day in age its not a bad idea provided correct training, respect and understanding is shown.

Interested in obtaining a ccw license if that's not impossible. I hear it's not easy.any insight on this.I'm pretty clean.only have a very minor misdemeanor that is non violent and also closed.

Furthermore, right now my main choice is the bersa firestorm cc 380,not entirely due to price but I like the feel of it,I have felt a lot of the cc guns available in shops and the bersa so far I like best.I like the grip as well as metal frame.but I love the 1911 style firearms, just don't have the money to buy a kimber and I assume a ria is too large to do anything with besides target, home defense.

If you have any helpful comments on my situation or can direct me in any way on this journey, please do so.

Welcome! Let us know what county you live in, we can give you more info on CCW. It depends very much on where you live.

If you like the Bersa, also check out the Cz 83. It has been discontinued but a batch came out recently, and they are on the CA roster of approved handguns. Very reliable, high quality 380. A few notches above a Bersa but perhaps harder to find.

Welcome aboard raven mach! What an exciting time, to be getting your first firearm, I kinda remember my own experience, it's been awhile.

Hey, not to throw you too far off track but just FYI, getting good at pistol shooting is pretty difficult without a good amount of practice and knowledge. A larger, heavier, longer barrel pistol is going to be easier to learn the fundamentals with. You'll shoot more, longer etc too.

So I would actually say don't poo poo that RIA too quick. Target is where you'll hone your skills, home is probably where it will live the majority, makes sense to align your purchase with it's actual intended use.

                      Have fun and good luck.

Thank you guys,I'm a member of many car forms (my true passion) and so far youi guys have been even more kind to my newness.thank you for that

Readysetgo-you know,I do feel you are right_targt is what I'd be doing mostly, and you are right on shooting it longer therefore I'd get more practice with it. My original idea was for self defense, since I life in one of the worst towns of them all,but I'm hearing is very difficult to get a permit.my budget is small, and I understand I can't have the best right now,but that's okay. One thing I seen is the ria has a huge ambidextrous saftey. Wic I do NOT like. Is that gun able to be modded somewhat?

I'm sort of torn between the two types of pistols and the two uses.I understand these are tools, and each one does a different job.I'd ideally like to carry when I have to go to bad areas or late at night) but if a permit is difficult, that may not be do able.I'm very interested/excited to range shoot, but for my thinking, after I leave there that pistol becomes sorta useless.

Any suggestions are welcome.I like talking about this with folks that understand

                          Welcome.

I'd suggest you rent/borrow a selection before you decide. Ask people why they like a particular firearm or dislike another.

Welcome. My brother has a FEG PMK-380 which looks very similar to the Bersa and the CZ 83 if you're interested, PM me.

Nothing wrong with your thinking at all. You'll find, as you probably already know from cars, that our preferences/dislikes develop and change over time and with experience.

Trigger time is the best arbitrator of these issues, it will confirm or deny our thoughts.

A great way to get some more trigger time is to hook up with other calgunners, which I find to be very friendly and willing to share. Looks like your area might be serviced by the 209 Chapter. Here's a meet n greet discussion that recently fizzled, but keep your eyes open: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1074972
